Peter Island Resort Reopens: A Firsthand Look at the Revitalized Luxury Escape in the BVI

After hearing all the buzz about the long-awaited reopening of Peter Island Resort & Marina, we couldn’t resist the opportunity to visit and see for ourselves what the new and improved experience had to offer. Having been closed since Hurricane Irma in 2017, Peter Island’s return is a major milestone for the British Virgin Islands’ luxury travel scene.

From the moment we arrived it was clear that this wasn’t just a reopening – it was a complete reimagination of the resort. Blending Caribbean charm with elevated modern luxury, Peter Island has managed to preserve its natural beauty while introducing first-class accommodations, dining and marina services.

As we approached Peter Island by yacht, we were immediately captivated by the island’s pristine beauty and impeccable upkeep. From the moment we stepped onto the dock, we were warmly greeted by the friendly staff, setting the tone for an unforgettable stay.

Eager to explore, we wandered through the resort’s lush, tropical landscape, passing by the pool, courts for pickleball, bocce ball, and basketball, as well as the vibrant Drunken Pelican restaurant and the charming Sea Chest Boutique. The Drunken Pelican, nestled at the Yacht Club, offers a lively yet laid-back atmosphere where you can savor local-inspired dishes, enjoy a wide selection of craft beers, and sip expertly crafted cocktails.

Next, we were whisked away by golf cart to Deadman’s Beach, where the resort’s lodge, restaurant, infinity pool, and beachfront rooms await. The Drake Steakhouse, situated right by the beach, is a refined dining experience offering high-quality prime meats, fresh seafood, an exceptional wine list, and elegant cocktails—perfectly complementing the stunning oceanfront setting.

For wellness enthusiasts, Peter Island offers a serene 10,000-square-foot spa set against breathtaking natural beauty—your perfect sanctuary to relax and recharge. Immerse yourself in tranquil ocean views while enjoying a range of rejuvenating treatments. The spa features seven luxurious treatment rooms, dedicated yoga and meditation spaces, an outdoor pool, an oceanfront hot tub, as well as manicure and pedicure stations. With a curated selection of skincare and body products designed to renew and nourish, it’s a haven for relaxation.

For those seeking adventure, Peter Island presents a variety of exciting activities. Explore the waters with an array of watersports, take in the stunning island scenery along scenic fitness trails and guided hikes, or embark on an unforgettable island tour. Don’t miss the Sunset Loop—offering some of the most spectacular panoramic views in the British Virgin Islands.

Yacht guests will be delighted by the expanded Peter Island Yacht Club and Marina, now accommodating superyachts up to 200 feet. This upgraded facility makes Peter Island the ultimate luxury stop for boaters looking to indulge in a truly exclusive retreat.

During our visit, we had the chance to explore the marina and learn more about the exceptional services available to overnight guests. If you’re planning to sail to Peter Island, here’s everything you need to know:
