Local artist Aragorn, known for making copper and steel sculptures. On full moon nights bonfires are lit within the cast iron fireballs. Check out more arts and crafts on display from pottery, bamboo masks and t-shirts.
The Baths, Virgin Gorda
One of the most famous ‘must see’ landmarks in the British Virgin Islands is the Baths. An incredible geological formation of huge granite boulders which line the white sandy beaches. Walk through the scenic trail, swim in one of the many rock pools and relax on the pristine beaches in this picture perfect location.
Copper Mine Tour
The prominent Copper Mine ruins are located on Mine Hill on the cliffs on the south eastern tip of Virgin Gorda. Built in the 1830’s and working until 1862, copper ore was extracted using a steam engine and shipped to Wales for processing. Today the National park is a tourist attraction with some interesting history and spectacular views.
Bubbly Pools, JVD
Located on the east side of Jost Van Dyke, a short distance from Foxy’s Taboo, take a short hike to the geological delight known as the Bubbly Pools. A natural volcanic rock pool which may knock you off your feet if a large wave comes through!
North Shore Shell Museum
Located in Carrot Bay, Tortola the North Shore Shell Museum displays a quirky collection of shells on display as well as necklaces, bracelets and trinkets available for sale.
HM Prison Museum, Tortola
Located in the heart of Road Town on the historic Main Street, the prison which was built in 1774 and in operation until 1995 is now a museum and an excellent place to learn of the British Virgin Islands history and culture.
Callwood Rum Distillery
The rum distillery and sugarcane plantation is located in Cane Garden Bay, Tortola. Rum making here dates back to the mid 1600’s. Michael, who runs the business by day will offer rum tastings as he explains the process and talk you through the history of the business. An excellent spot for rum lovers!
Mount Healthy National Park
Mount Healthy is an 18th century windmill ruin located on the north side of Tortola. Once part of a thriving 250 acre plantation used to crush sugar for the sugar mill and rum distillery in the nearby Brewers Bay.
